THIS IS MY PERSONAL  STORY

MARIKA PARSADANELLI WARDELL

Curator and Founder of the International Platform for Women in Art — TGW"

For me, art is both a part of spiritual growth and a form of service."Art is a way to connect the visible and the invisible, the present and the eternal. For almost fifteen years, I have dedicated myself to the art world as a curator, developing bold cultural initiatives.I have been fortunate to work with outstanding collection by Auguste Rodin and Diego Giacometti and different big names as Pablo Picasso, Lucio Fontana mostly private 20th-century collections. I was honored to curate international exhibitions supported by the British Council, the French Cultural Committee, and major global luxury brands — bringing remarkable art to the world.

From 2015 to 2024, I led the international promotion of American artist Shane Guffogg, organizing a series of solo exhibitions, including his project in Venice during the 60th Venice Biennale at Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. My work on the Expert Council of the Hermitage Museum from 2013 to 2015 strengthened my understanding of how essential it is to preserve cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations.Since 2017, I have been speaking at international forums on a topic that is especially meaningful to me — the role of women in preserving culture and heritage in the modern world.

Over time, I realized that the experience, the voice — and above all, the presence — of women is exactly what the contemporary art world needs today. From this understanding, in 2022, the idea of TGW was born — an international platform uniting women in art: artists, curators, researchers, collectors, and art professionals.A platform where every woman can grow, collaborate, explore new experiences, and find support and strength in unity.

The Importance of TGW’s Presence in Venice During the Venice BiennaleVenice is the center of culture and the global art dialogue.During the Venice Biennale, the city becomes the place where the cultural agenda is defined and the direction of contemporary art is shaped for years ahead.Integrating TGW into this context is a strategic and meaningful step.It affirms women’s art as an equal and active part of the international conversation. Our presence in Venice gives visibility to women artists, curators, and researchers whose ideas are shaping the new cultural reality.TGW in Venice is not a parallel event — it is part of the global discourse. We create a space where the female perspective is not an exception but one of the driving forces of contemporary art.
